12 step recovery is rooted in spiritual development, but religious affiliation isn’t required. Greenleaf Behavioral Health Hospital uses a person-centered approach to addiction treatment. Programs include detox, inpatient treatment, and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Our inpatient treatment programs are for adolescents (ages 12-17) and adults who are a danger to themselves or others and require intensive observation and stabilization. We focus on making sure each client creates a strong foundation that sets the stage for successful recovery.
The discharge planning process helps to ensure that men have the necessary support to make a successful transition out of care and continue on their path toward lifelong recovery. This hospital was a warm and caring place to get better, I was there for a week, for mental health, the place was clean and friendly. Men who are currently participating in PHP/IOP at Greenleaf will of course receive a broad range of therapeutic supports in those programs. Those who have completed PHP/IOP care will still have the opportunity to participate in group therapy while at Foundations. While living at Foundations, they will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the 12-Step model and become more active in the AA/NA community, and will attend daily meetings during their time in the residence. Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.
Clients engaged in our partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs typically stay in treatment for 2-4 weeks, depending on the specific needs of the individual. Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person’s life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.
Each group is led by either a licensed clinician or an experienced peer specialist. As a means of providing a more stable living environment for certain clients who find themselves in a situation where the stresses and pressures of everyday life are overhwelming, we are proud to offer the Foundations Recovery Residence.
